To an outsider, New York City can be intimidating. And it’s hard to effectively help young people from underserved communities unless you intimately understand the context of their lives. The folks at Genesys Works, a well-regarded national organization that helps low-income students, let us know that they were considering bringing their unique workforce development model to the Big Apple. They sought us out to provide their New York City outpost with the kind of hands-on support that would ensure long-term success. And we agreed to help.
Genesys Works New York is a big success. We were pleased to help the out-of-towners become tried and true New Yorkers.
Working closely with the newly appointed New York executive director, we helped him think through programming and staffing needs, find locations and events spaces, connect with area funders, and build bridges to other nonprofits. It’s a tough town, but it’s a town with a big heart. Genesys Works New York is a big success. We were pleased to help the out-of-towners become tried and true New Yorkers.
